Agenda: Use first half of class to finish your Muslim Innovations/Inventions worksheets. When you're done, please place them in your period stack on the TA desk. Then it's Friday Funday! Have fun drawing the Taj Mahal. There are class copies of the helper guide and computer paper on the Dodger Stadium seats :) This won't be graded, but it could look great on your fridge at home! Homework: None, have a relaxing Spring Break!!

Thursday, March 28th (Opening Day for Baseball)!

Agenda: *iPad Day* Continue at your own pace to work INDIVIDUALLY on the Lesson 9 (Muslim Inventions) worksheets and placard activity. Stay focused and I'm confident you got this :) Homework: Remember, if you need to work tonight, that you'll have half of class tomorrow to finish your worksheets before I check them.

Wednesday, March 27th

Agenda: *iPad Day* Explain the worksheets that you'll be working on for the next couple of days. Then open Google Classroom and read Lesson 9 (titled Muslim Innovations) and highlight first. Then, only after you've read and highlighted the entire lesson, start looking around class for Muslim Innovations/Inventions and begin to fill out your worksheets. Don't rush, you'll have tomorrow to finish. Homework: Worksheets due halfway thru class on Friday!

Tuesday, March 26th

Agenda: Using your red book, page 180, fill out 5 Pillars chart (you don't need to fill out the arabic name or the 5th pillar for now). Using documentary (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pv_BPa12xZE&t=329s) fill out 5th pillar on the Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca). Homework: None.

Monday, March 25th

Agenda: iPads Stay Outside Today Please. Weekend Wrap-Ups (especially since we haven't done them for a couple of weeks). Then share one thing you learned from Islam: Empire of Faith documentary with the class. After that, watch more of the documentary a (up until 50 minutes in for those who are absent today). Homework: None.

Friday, March 22nd

Agenda: iPads stay outside today please. Follow-up theme of tolerance by starting our mini-unit on Islam. We'll be watching the first part of the PBS documentary Islam: Empire of Faith ( you can find it on youtube if you're absent today at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PF6VPZsHDZQ ). Make sure you're taking detailed bullet-point notes during the documentary. We'll discuss as a class after weekend wrap-ups on Monday. Homework: None.

Agenda: iPads stay outside today please. Byzantine Empire essay due at START of class today (that means you MUST have it printed out BEFORE school starts). Then prep for Museum of Tolerance trip tomorrow. Homework: None.

Tuesday, March 19th

Agenda: Last day to work on your Byzantine Empire essay. If you're done, find someone you can peer review/edit with or silent read please. Homework: Essay due at start of class tomorrow. TYPED & PRINTED OUT BEFORE SCHOOL (Or It's Late=10% Off).

Monday, March 18th

Agenda: Instead of Weekend Wrap-Ups, I want you to have that extra 15 minutes to work on writing your essay. But before you start back typing, we'll go over a few helper tips that came up in some classes. And we'll be collecting your insurance forms for the Museum of Tolerance trip on Thursday, if you haven't turned them in yet. Homework: Byzantine Empire essay DUE at START OF CLASS on WEDNESDAY.

Friday, March 15th (Beware the Ides of March)

Agenda: Briefly go over formatting of essay (ie how I want it typed out). Take rest of class to begin writing...remember you'll have ALL class today, Monday AND Tuesday to write. Homework: Byzantine Empire Essay Due at Start of Class on Wednesday.

Thursday, March 14th

Agenda: *iPad Day* Make sure you bring ALL your handouts into class along with your iPad and your pencil. First we'll discuss how to write your Byzantine Empire essay as a class. Then fill-out pre-write sheet together. Finally you'll utilize the rest of class to write the introductory paragraph OR brainstorm for more essay writing tomorrow for Funday Friday. Homework: None, because you'll have all class tomorrow to start/continue writing your essay on WHY we study the Byzantine Empire.

Wednesday, March 13th

Agenda: Please come into class with your document packet, your pen, your highlighter and your separate sheet of paper for your detailed answers. Pick up where you left off by analyzing, highlighting and answering questions for documents D & E in DETAIL. Homework: None, as long as you finish your document packet by end of class.

Tuesday, March 12th

Agenda: *Please leave iPads outside today AND tomorrow* Pass out documents for Byzantine Empire essay research. Complete document A together as a class. Then use rest of class to finish documents B & C in DETAIL. Homework: None, if you've finished document C in detail by the end of the class.

Monday, March 11th

Agenda: Please leave iPads outside today. Weekend Wrap-Ups first. Then introduce Byzantine Empire essay with "hook" and background essay. Homework: None, we start researching for your essay tomorrow.

Agenda: Please leave everything outside today except for your Reasons for the Fall of Rome sheet and a pen. Today we'll be finishing the documentary and checking off as many reasons for the Fall of Rome that we see in the documentary. Agenda: *Please leave iPads outside today* Share your Main Reason Why Rome Fell with the entire class. Remember, you don't have to share your entire paragraph with the class, just the parts you highlighted (those that you feel strongest about why Rome fell). Homework: None.

Tuesday, March 5th

Agenda: *iPad Day* Check and share your 3 Reasons Why Rome Fell with a partner. Then you'll be taking the ONE reason you feel strongest about and writing a paragraph, after you've done research, on that reason. You can write it on the same page you shared earlier. Be ready to share your paragraph tomorrow with the rest of class. Homework: Finish your paragraph on your Main Reason Why Rome Fell, if you haven't by the end of class.

Monday, March 4th

Agenda: *iPads Stay Outside Today Please* Start class with weekend wrap-ups and you'll share your Latin voc. term. Then dramatic reading of "The Crossing" as a class. (We'll answer follow-up q.'s from the reading together.) Finally, I'm going to pass out a handout on 42 Reasons for the Fall of Rome. Your job is to choose the 3 you feel are the main reasons Rome collapsed and write a paragraph about why you chose those 3. Be ready to share with a partner tomorrow. Homework: Finish your 3 Reasons for Fall of Rome paragraph, if you aren't done by end of class.

Friday, March 1st

Agenda: *iPad Day* Work in groups of two to find Latin sayings that we still use today. If you finish early, look up other Latin words not on the list. Then watch chariot racing scene from Ben Hur AND pod racing scene from Star Wars for Funday Friday! You'll see how similar art imitating history is! Homework: None.
